Finally, some action! Thanks for bringing this up!

For too long, these platforms have been exploiting our data for profit. It’s high time we had the power to decide where our information goes. Utah might be setting a precedent here.

I’m not so sure. These companies have deep pockets and armies of lawyers. They’ll find loopholes or just lobby their way out of it. Remember the GDPR? How much has really changed since then?

@MiaMystic9, while I get your point, GDPR did lead to some hefty fines for companies like Google. It’s not perfect, but it’s a step. Maybe this Act will push things further in the right direction

But how practical is this? I mean, can I really take all my Facebook photos and move them to another platform seamlessly? Sounds like a logistical nightmare.

that’s exactly what data portability is about. The Act aims to make it easier for users to transfer their content and relationships across platforms.

Back in my day, we didn’t have to worry about this stuff. But now, it’s like every app wants a piece of your soul. Maybe this law will help us reclaim some of that.

While the intention is good, the implementation will be key. Without strict enforcement, this could end up being just another toothless regulation
