Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about cancel culture lately and how it affects teens. With the rise of social media, it seems like one mistake can lead to someone being completely ostracized. I read about a tragic case involving an Oxford student, Alexander Rogers, who took his own life after being shunned due to rumors.

It’s shocking how public shaming and cyberbullying can escalate so quickly. I’m curious—how do you all think cancel culture is impacting the mental health of teenagers? Are we creating an environment where teens are too afraid to make mistakes?

Cancel culture started as a way to hold people accountable, but it’s become a tool for bullying. Teens are especially vulnerable because their identities are still forming. The fear of being “canceled” can lead to anxiety and depression. It’s a serious issue that needs more attention.

I agree 💯! It’s heartbreaking to see young people suffer because of online shaming. We need to promote kindness and understanding instead of jumping to cancel someone. Everyone makes mistakes; it’s part of growing up

While I understand the concerns, some people deserve to be called out for harmful behavior. The problem is when the punishment doesn’t fit the crime. We need to differentiate between holding someone accountable and outright bullying
